Damage Protection

Renter Damage Protection

Damage protection is an optional service offered by RentLend that relieves the Renter of repair or replacement charges if the Item is damaged during normal use during the Rental Period. Damage Protection costs 15% of the Rental Price (with a $5 minimum) and will appear as a separate line item charge on the Rental Statement. For Items where Damage Protection is available, the Renter must accept or decline the Damage Protection service when making a Rental Offer. Damage Protection is not insurance. Damage Protection does not cover loss of or damage to the Item caused by theft, abuse, misuse, neglect, intentional acts, and/or failure to follow the proper use and care instructions provided for the Item. Renter expressly acknowledges and agrees that they, as renter, shall be responsible for all repair or replacement costs not covered by Damage Protection. Damage Protection is not offered for borrowed items.

Owner Damage Protection

Owner Damage Protection is provided to Verified users. RentLend will reimburse owners for the cost to repair or replace their item due to loss or damage by a Renter. The amount RentLend will cover is equal to the lesser of:

A) The cost to repair ore replace item above the deposit amount.

B) $500

What's Covered:

  • Damage to your item caused by Renter (or others)

  • Unexpected cleaning costs you incur due to Renter (or others)

Owner Damage Protection Doesn't Cover:

  • Damage from wear and tear due to ordinary and reasonable use.

  • Loss due to acts of nature (like earthquake or hurricane)

Damage Protection Certified

Damage Protection Certification is available to owners with a positive rental track record, have completed an Owner interview, and agree to a high level of rental standards. Only Damage Protection Certified owners are eligible to have Damage Protection offered on the rental items.

Kit

A kit is a set of multiple items.

For example, if you wanted to create a "hiking kit" it could include:

  • Backpack

  • Tent

  • Compass

  • Headlamp

  • Binoculars

Verification

We want to create a safe and reliable platform while also protecting the privacy of our users. Unverified users will be limited to renting items with a rental deposit no greater than $100. Verified users will have no rental deposit limit.

RentLend has 3 "paths" to verification:

1. Verification by Rental Experience

  • When a user completes three rental transactions with a verified user (as either Renter or Owner) and receives generally positive feedback (or at least no significant issues), these three transactions will satisfy the requirements for verification.

2. Verification by recommendation from two (2) verified users

  • If two verified users recommend a user for verification, this will satisfy the requirements for verification. Verification recommendations must come from "friends and family" that the user is connected with on RentLend. Submit a verification recommendation by clicking the "recommend for verification" button in the user's profile page.

3. Verification by a background check

  • A user may request verification via background check through the following steps:

    1. Make sure your profile picture is a current photo of you.

    2. Upload a photo of your state-issued ID (image of user's face must be on ID).

    3. Step 3: Pay a $39 fee (non-refundable).

These verification may take 1-2 days to be complete. Don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you need verification sooner.
